BRIGHTEST DAY in May

The Flash #2

The Flash battles the Renegades, 25th century versions of the Rogues, easily incapacitating them. As they are recalled to the future, their time platform results in the destruction of an apartment building; the Flash saves the residents and promptly rebuilds their home. Meanwhile, Captain Cold and Mirror Master pay a visit to Captain Boomerang in Iron Heights. They inform their fellow Rogue that he needs to prove that he is still one of them by breaking out of prison and making the Flash sweat. Back at the Central City Police Department, Barry has begun looking into a closed case when a DNA match comes back from the Mirror Monarch case. Apparently, his murderer was Barry Allen…



Titans: Villains for Hire Special #1

Deathstroke the Terminator has organized a team of mercenaries and lost souls for a secret mission, the details of which are known only to him. Their first mission is to kill Ryan Choi, the fourth Atom, whom they attack in his Ivy Town home. Although Choi holds his own, these new Titans overwhelm him, with Deathstroke himself delivering the killing blow. Their inaugural assignment complete, the Terminator tells his team that they need to work as a team, or not at all…


Birds of Prey #1

After Black Canary and Lady Blackhawk rescue a kidnapped girl in Iceland, they learn that Oracle needs their help. Oracle enlists the aid of the Huntress, and Lady Blackhawk goes to recruit the services of Hawk and Dove. Oracle informs Black Canary and Huntress that a mysterious individual is threatening the superhuman community; they have files about heroes, villains, friends and family, and is going to start killing these people unless the Birds play along. Black Canary and Huntress arrive at the rendezvous point, where their foe is confronting the Penguin. After a brief fight, the White Canary stands victorious over her foes, with the Penguin close to death…



Justice League of America #45

An angry Jade goes on the defensive when the German Rocket Elite wants to take her in for questioning because of her connection to the Starheart meteorite. Suddenly, a comatose Alan Scott and the Justice Society of America arrive on the scene, but their teammate Power Girl destroys the Star Rocket Racer, sending the JSA spiraling to the ground below. As Power Girl comes around for another attack, Supergirl, whose aid was enlisted by Congorilla, fends off the JSA’s powerhouse. A battle ensues, during which Donna Troy and Jade successfully subdue Power Girl. In the aftermath of the battle, Jade relates to the other heroes her father’s origin and the secrets of the Starheart. Batman and Mr. Terrific reveal that magical and elemental metas are being influenced by the chaos within the Starheart; storm patterns are also being affected. The Starheart, however, has taken control of Alan and his son Obsidian, and is preparing to end the world on its own terms…


Green Lantern #54

In the New York City subway system, Atrocitus and Dex-Starr brutally kill a train full of thieves and muggers. In Silver City, NM, Hal Jordan, Carol Ferris and Thaal Sinestro attempt to lift the White Lantern power battery, with no success. The Entity, however, implores them to help it live, and shows them images of those who have been brought back to life by its power. It wants Hal and the others to find the other entities, all of whom are somewhere on Earth. Meanwhile, the being that chained Parallax retrieves Ion from Sodam Yat, rescuing the Green Lantern from his imprisonment in Daxam’s sun and changing said sun back to red, thereby de-powering the Daxamites. The Entity teleports Hal and company to New York City, where they meet up with Atrocitus, who is attempting to locate the entities for his own purposes. Hal is ready to send the Red Lanterns back to Ysmault when an unexpected guest arrives – Lobo…


Green Lantern Corps #48


After making secret plans with Atrocitus and Guy Gardner, Ganthet finally relinquishes his Guardian status and becomes a member of the Green Lantern Corps. He forges his own ring and sets out to protect Space Sector Zero. Elsewhere, Alpha Lantern Varix recruits rookie Green Lantern Hrallkar to be a member of the Alpha Lanterns. Later, Ganthet joins Kyle Rayner and John Stewart on reconstruction detail, and they discuss restoring Oa to its original style. John is summoned to the Citadel, where he is asked to aid Alpha Lantern Boodikka in locating Stel who, after venturing to his home world, has been out of contact. Stewart and Boodikka leave Oa, even as Hrallkar’s partner, Glibberquip, is about to be “requisitioned” by the Alpha Lanterns…
